In spring and autumn, small exclusive events are organized at the Galerie d'Art, by invitation only. It's in small groups that I welcome guests to this friendly, charming venue, where I take great pleasure in introducing them to my work as a painter.
A true sharing of pictorial art and gourmet art, these events are enriched by the gastronomic passion of Laure Kitchen, in Châtel-St-Denis, who enlivens these gatherings with her inventive cuisine. Painting is one of my greatest pleasures, tasting with the eyes is another.

When 3rd Art meets 7th Art!

For the 3rd edition of Le levée de voile, an event inspired by the Italian Renaissance, the mystery work was revealed this Saturday, September 13 at 11:00 am on the Place de la Galerie d'Art in Châtel-St-Denis, with over 60 art enthusiasts in attendance. Pierre Monnard, director of the Winter Palace TV series and a native of Châtel-St-Denis, was present and said he was very moved to see one of the scenes from his series immortalized. Sandra Kupferschmid, painter and founder of the art gallery, unveiled her work in the style of an Ankerian work of art. The oil painting depicts children from the fictional village of Champaz, playing in front of the church, two of whom were none other than the director's children, something the artist was unaware of. The public was also able to contemplate over fifty works of art on display in the art gallery.
Two local art enthusiasts brought the old town of Châtel-St-Denis to life.

The curtain rises at the Galerie d'Art on Saturday, September 13!

«Sandra Kupferschmid is pleased to invite you to the 3rd edition of Le levée de voile, under the exceptional patronage of local film-maker Pierre Monnard, who will be present at the event. 3 years ago, Sandra Kupferschmid came up with the idea of reviving the Italian Renaissance tradition established by Botticelli for the unveiling of a mystery painting. The work is kept secret until the event, which brings together art lovers and the artist in front of the gallery. This restores a spirit of discovery to a work that doesn't appear on any of the social networks. Viewers will be able to take part in an unusual event that goes against the grain of the times and is unique in Switzerland. A drink is offered.
We set sail at 11 a.m. sharp this Saturday.»

Lifting the veil - June 8, 2024

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, the Galerie d'Art organized its 2ndème edition of the unveiling at 11am on the Galerie d'Art square!

Sandra Kupferschmid unveiled «Portuguese in Lisbon» which was the mystery painting linked to Portugal. As the artist is of Swiss and Portuguese origin, she wanted to pay tribute to her nations, as she had already done last year with the painting of the Little Armailli.

For those interested in finding out more about their drawing teacher, Sandra Kupferschmid, you can listen to the passage from Monday evening, February 25, 2024 at radio Unimix, Fribourg University Radio, who interviewed Sandra.

Indeed, she had the pleasure of being interviewed for a wonderful 30-minute portrait by her former pupil Sarah Alili from Châtel-St-Denis, a university student in Fribourg and future journalist. A lovely moment of sharing between laughter and seriousness with big radio microphones. Thanks to Sarah for her professionalism and top-notch questions. Last painting completed, September 30, 2025

It's always possible to follow a work in progress from the art gallery window, or to step inside. The art gallery is transformed into a studio on certain days of the week, so you can follow the layers of paint building up on the canvas, and see the extent of the work, which takes around 3 months to complete. The last completed painting, «Glycine à Chardonne», is a 60 x 60 cm canvas, copied from a photo by Christine Travers, an avid mountain walker and photographer.

This one writes under an Instagram post: « One day, Sandra Kupferschmid asked me for the rights to a photo I'd taken: a view from my apartment in Chardonne.

From this frozen image, a living work was born - a vibrant painting, shaped by his eyes, his hand and his sensitivity.

On Saturday September 27, we went to meet him. We discovered the canvas, a reflection of my vision, transformed by his.

It was a suspended moment, bathed in pigments of emotion and inner clarity, shared with a painter of rare kindness, a beautiful and luminous soul.

I can only invite you to step through the door of his gallery in Châtel-St-Denis and lose yourself, as if entering a colorful dream, in the visual poetry of his works.»
